Mrs. Dorothy Eva Hartwell age 87 of Grand Rapids, widow of David A. Hartwell, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday March 3, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her son Sgt. Richard David Hartwell. Surviving are 3 children Mary Jo Hartwell of Pendleton, OR, Cheryl M. (Aubra) Dees of Mission, TX, Juliann (Art) Alexander of Allegan, MI, 6 grandchildren, Fred Wolotira (Liz), Lynn Marie Williams (Mark), Kristianne Krueger (Scott), Steve Dees (Michele), Art Jr. Alexander (Hope), Chad Alexander (April), several great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a dance enthusiast who particularily enjoyed tap, line and polka. She was an avid gardener. She loved life, and enjoyed telling jokes. "Laughter is the best medicine" was her motto. Dorothy was a very loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was a former choir member of Blessed Sacrament Church, where the Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00am. Her family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to Mass. Dorothy's family wishes to thank Spectrum-Blodgett Critical Care Unit for their exemplary care of their mother. Memorials are suggested to Allegan Medical Care Facility, Perrigo Unit in honor of Dorothy Hartwell.
