HOLMES

James A. Holmes, age 58 of Grand Rapids, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, January 26, 2010.  He is survived by his daughter, Devon M. Holmes; his siblings: Patty (Bill) Faber, Joan Holmes, Jude (Doug) Smith, and Mary Ann (Jeffery) Van Kuiken; and five nieces and nephews.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents Leona M. (Holmes) Douthett and John W. Holmes, as well as his brother J. Michael Holmes.The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers location at 937 Michigan St NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 10:30am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 224 Carrier St NE, Grand Rapids, Rev. Edward Vella, C.Ss.R., presiding. The family will also receive friends at the church one hour immediately preceding the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Alphonsus Church Capital Campaign.
