Dennis R. Kumko, 67, passed away unxpectedly early Sunday morning February 28, 2010 at Spectrum Health Butterworth surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years Margaret (Wilczynski), one daughter, Kimberly Lynn Dubay, one son Brenton J. (Tracie), beloved grandchildren Hailey Nicole & Riley J. Dubay, Madelyn Rae & Alyson Paige Kumko, his mother Mary Kumko, sisters Jeanne (Wayne) Garlick, Greenville, Margaret (Dr. Thomas) Hardy, Danville VA, sister-in-law & brother-in-law Betty & Tom Wojtas, Marne, several neices & nephews, many close friends especially Jerry & Nancy Siminski, and many wonderful neighbors. He was predeceased by his father Edward Kumko, his in laws Adolph & Clara Wilczynski. His love of antiques led him to fulfill his dream and open his own antique shop, Juslyn's Antiques & Collectibles, which he owned and operated for 10 years until his retirement in 2007. Prior to that he was employed at AT&T. Dennis, known to many as Denny, has been a devout Catholic his entire life. He was born and raised on the Westside of Grand Rapids and remained there until his death. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers, Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW, where a Vigil Service will be held Wednesday at 7 pm. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of St. Adalbert on Thursday March 4 at 10:30 am, where he will repose 1 hour prior to the Mass. For those who wish to make a memorial contribution can do so by remembring the Basilica of St. Adalbert "Restore the Glory" fund.
