MARTIN – Richard (Dick, Blinky) Allen Martin, 64 years of age, formerly of Muskegon, reached the top of the mountain on Tuesday January 19, 2010 and won the ultimate victory. We mourn his loss, but celebrate his life and wonderful reward. Along with our wonderful Lord to greet him was his deceased spouse Regina, father Richard, Grandma Martin and Grandma Eichorst. Here in this world he left his best friend, lover and spouse Mary Rose whom he cherished immensely. Richard thanks our dear Lord for bringing Mary into his life when they wed on her birthday June 12th. He leaves behind three children, daughter Stacie Steingrubey of Singapore, daughter Dana (David) Watford of Marianna, FL and son Randall (Theresa) Martin of Silverhill, AL and four stepchildren Sean Simmons of Seattle, Troy Neely of Jacksonville, Dale Simmons of Windsor, Ontario and Dean Simmons of Calgary, Alberta. From these children he was blessed with eleven grandchildren, Jason and Ryan Steingrubey, Christian, Taya and Ashley Martin, Jordean Simmons, Candice and Patrick Neely, Jasmine Jensen, Deserae and Destiny White. Richard leaves two sisters, Connie Martin of Fruitport, Susan (Robert) Kennert of Roosevelt Park and one brother Kevin (Dr. Renee) Martin of Greenville, MI. In addition he leaves behind seven nieces and nephews, Joe (Tristin) Baker, Angela Baker, Geoff Gerencer, Kendra (Josh) Gerencer Johnston, Justin (Amber) Kennert, Lydia Martin and Evan Martin. On his spouse’s side he leaves his cherished mother-in-law, Avis Walker of Pittsburgh and sisters and brothers in law: Saundra Truss, Donnie & Janet Irvin, Evangelist Dorothy & Minister Larry Stubbs, Ottaway Jr. (Deceased), Gary, Tyrone, Michael, William and Donald Kenley. Richard also leaves to mourn several aunts, uncles and many cousins. Richard was a 1963 graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Richard was very active and supportive of his church Free Spirit Worship Center where his spouse (Rev Mary) is Senior Pastor. The prayers and love from his church family are greatly appreciated. Richard enjoyed his final years of employment at JEDCO Aerospace in Grand Rapids and sends a big ‘Thank You’ for their support in making his final journey easier. The loving care provided by Faith Hospice during this journey was above reproach. Thanks to every member of that team.
Richard’s final thank you is to Mary where our journey officially began on our wedding day. It was the greatest, most exciting, loving, fulfilling, fabulous journey from beginning to end.
The service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held Thursday 6:00pm at Free Spirit Worship Center, 820 Monroe Ave., Suite 120 (on the Mason Street side), officiated by the Rev.
